Lace up your sturdy walking shoes for an energetic, two-mile trek along the Butze Rainforest Nature Trail. Your approximately three-hour adventure begins with a scenic motorcoach ride enhanced by insights into the history of Prince Rupert and the neighboring communities. Arrive at a trailhead and set off on a guided hike into the wilds of the Butze Rainforest. Trail naturalists will detail the significance of the local flora and fauna, the role they play in the food chain, and how traditional native medicines are derived from the herbs, barks and plants. At the halfway point, stop to rest at a viewpoint overlooking the Butze Rapids. The rapids change character with the tides. All is peaceful at low and high tide, but in between times, the rapids churn with white foam. Enjoy a quick snack and bottled water before returning to the trailhead and to your motorcoach for the relaxing ride back to port.
